After Prom Is Almost Here!
After Prom will take place May 6th from 12:30 am - 5:30 am at the school and it promises to be a party our students will always remember! The giant inflatables are thrilling, Monte Carlo is bigger than ever, there is every kind of food our students could ever want, and the prizes are unbelievable! And...no one will recognize Lakota West High School after it has been transformed into "T.V. Land."
Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased every day at lunch April 30th - May 4th. Only West juniors and seniors may purchase tickets (limit two per student) and they must have a picture ID to buy their tickets. Students also need to bring a picture ID with them to After Prom. Remember, sophomores may attend if they are the guest of an upper classman. Students do not need to go to prom in order to go to After Prom and they do not need a date. Just dress casual (please change out of prom attire prior to arriving at the school) and join 1000+ friends in a night full of fun.
Just a reminder that After Prom is a modified lock-in. If a studnet wishes to leave prior to 5:00 am parent volunteers must first speak personally to a parent to obtain permission. No written notes will be accepted so please be available and don't panic if the phone rings at some very early hour! Since the first After Prom seven years ago our students have always been very well behaved and respectful. Parents, please remind your children to make good decisions on prom night so as to fully enjoy it. We will have a no tolerance policy regarding alcohol and drugs and will handle any infractions accordingly.
We still need a few volunteers for the event itself. Please do not wait for "the other guy" to step up. We must have more parents in order to provide our students with all that has been planned. It is really a lot of fun for the volunteers and there is so much activity you won't have trouble staying awake. We could also use a few more parents to send in a couple of food items. Anyone interested in helping is asked to call Joan Nagle at 863-2207 ASAP.
We sincerely hope to see many of our students and their guests at After Prom 2007 where they will once again enjoy all their favorite TV shows!
After Prom Preview
Everyone is invited to attend our After Prom Preview on Saturday, May 5th from 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Browse through the school, munch on popcorn, enjoy a cup of Starbuck's coffee, and see what our students will enjoy later that evening. You will be amazed at how Lakota West will be transformed into a magnificent television station full of special past and recent television shows. Don't be a couch potato - bring your friends and family to After Prom Preview 2007!!
Prom Flowers
Once again, After Prom and Petals & Things Florist are working together to offer a great service to our students. We will be taking orders at lunch from April 25th - May 4th for prom corsages and boutineres. Samples will be on display in the Westside Diner everyday at lunch. Petals & Things will again be offering the flowers at a terrific discount to our students. Students who pay when they order their flowers will be able to pick them up at the school the morning of the prom. COD orders can be picked up at the florist prior to 3:00 pm that day. This is as easy as it gets and Petals & Things does a great job for our students. Order forms will be mailed home right after spring break and will also be available at lunch.
This Is For The Guys
This year After Prom has entered into a new partnership with Folchi's Formalwear on Cox Road. Any student who rents his tux from Folchi's will be able to return it to school before coming in to the After Prom. We will have an area set up inside the building near room 108 where the guys can return their tuxes to the Folchi's representatives. (Students will enter the door on the south side of the building where the buses park.) What a great deal - they won't need to get up early the next day to return their tuxes to the store! Additional details will be in the April mailing and information sheets will be distributed by Folchi's.

Meeting Time and Place
The time for the PTSO monthly meetings will be held, in the Lakota West HS Media Center, at 7:00 p.m. the second Thursday of each month. Our first meeting is Thursday September 14. All are welcome and encouraged to come. Meetings usually only last 1 hour. We look forward to seeing you.
PTSO Looking for Members and Volunteers
All students should have received a PTSO membership form in their schedule packages. We also will have a membership table with forms for sign up on Academic Night – Sept 6. We encourage everyone to come out that night to get a first hand look at the school and your child’s classes. Your membership helps us support a number of programs at Lakota along with getting you a copy of our incredible Lakota West Directory.
We need your help as a volunteer for programs we put on including the Arts & Crafts Show, Staff Appreciation, and the After Prom. Your committment to the PTSO will not require a great amount of time, but your participation will benefit our students in so many ways. The PTSO welcomes all parents and looks forward to having new people join its organization.
Advertising Boards
The After Prom has been given the opportunity to promote Advertising Boards to the business community as its major fundraiser this year. This is a new concept for this area and one that has proven to be very successful for businesses in other parts of the country. We already have secured several businesses who want to display these unique and professional boards in their business establishments and now we need to recruit other
businesses or individuals who would like to display their business cards in the boards. Any Lakota West family who has their own business or who is employed by a business that might be interested in this concept is encouraged to contact Marlene Mundey at 325-3478 as soon as possible. This is a great opportunity for anyone in real estate, finance, insurance, and home party businesses as well as the larger businesses.
Additionally, we are looking for volunteers to assist us in going out to the local businesses to recruit them to advertise with us. We would like to schedule a meeting towards the middle of this month so anyone interested in helping with this is encouraged to contact Marlene ASAP.
