Academics › Core Curriculum

Students graduating in 2005 or 2006 must pass all sections of the Ohio Ninth Grade Proficiency Test. Students graduating in 2007 or later must pass all sections of the Ohio Graduation Test. All students must earn at least 21 credits; specific requirements within those 21 credits are listed below. A student must have completed all graduation requirements before participating in graduation ceremonies and/or receiving a diploma. All long-distance, on-line, or correspondence courses must be completed and transcripts must be received two weeks prior to the date of graduation to meet graduation participation requirements. No exams for such courses will be administered at Lakota West after May 1. Recommendations for College Preparatory Students These recommendations reflect requirements for unconditional acceptance by most colleges or universities. Students should check with the colleges or universities they are considering for specific entrance requirements.

English 4 credits (Eng. 9, 10, 11 and 1 credit of electives) 4 credits
Science 3 credits (1 Biological, 1 Physical, + 1 Elective) 2 or 3 credits (depending on college)
Math 3 credits 3 credits (including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II)
Social Studies Classes of 2005 and 2006: 3 credits (US History 9 or Social Studies elective, US History 10, Government, Economics)
Class of 2007 or later: 3 credits (World Studies 9, US History 10, Government, Economics)
Note: Some out-of-state colleges require World History
Health 0.5 credit (1 semester)  
Physical Education 0.5 credit (2 semesters)  
Creating or Performing Arts or Technology 1.0 or 2 half credits (May also include Business and/or Foreign Language) 1 credit (art, music, theatre, Still Imagery)
Electives 6.0 credits as many as can be taken (2 or 3 credits Foreign Language, depending on college)
